I can understand that reaction somewhat.

Mostly because my sister is very safety conscious, and she used to have shifts that ended after dark. (She works at a hospital, but she has a morning-afternoon shift now.) Whenever she didn't have the car and before she got a boyfriend, she would call me to walk her home. Technically we live in a safe area, but I can't really blame her for being extra-careful. Hospital workers have to deal with a fair amount of shit anyway.

I do not *like* the fact that we live in a society where women have to be conscious of their personal information and extra-cautious going places alone after dark, and I want to work on a way to change it, but I am not going to ignore it or tell you there's no point being cautious.

That being said, most of us here are pretty nice, IP logging is off, and you can always go anon if you want absolutely no identifying details.

Eh, I can understand why some people wouldn't want to post with an account at least. Especially due to that thread in GC the other day with the anon who admitted to stalking people online to get their personal information.

Also, people tend to be more paranoid in their earlier forays into the internet. Particularly if one's mother lives on a steady diet of Lifetime movies and dispenses advice gleaned from same.
