Yes, promote her novel.

That'll show her! She'll really feel bad after you publicize her novel, both by making a secret about it and by writing a ton of stories about it.

I think these books are well-known enough that one secret and some fanfic will not affect their popularity.

Anon, you do realize this is a very well known bestselling series and has been for years, right? Even several dozen porn-filled fanfics floating in the nebula that is the internet would be a drop in the bucket in terms of publicity.

Quite honestly, I've had Outlander sitting around for 2 years now and have only ever read 2 pages. I kept meaning to read it.

Now I won't nor will I check out anything else by her or even gift the book. It's gonna sit around collecting dust. I didn't even know she was popular or about that ridiculous rant that I just read. When authors pull that crap, it's automatically a cue for me to tap out. And cheerlead for people who do write spite fanfic.

Well, if you already have it then you (or somebody) already paid for it, right? So go ahead and hateread it and then have a ball going through all the fanfic you can find.
