Essentially, this nurse from WW2 gets sent back to Scotland just before ww2. She meets up with these guys, there's some action, then some reluctant romance, then some less reluctant smut, then some less reluctant romance, and a bunch more action to go with the romance. Plus, the main guy gets injured and the girl has to take care of him... quite a lot.

IDK the harlequin tropes too well, so I'm not sure if it's like them, though. There's certainly no harm in getting it out from the library if you're curious, though.

Yeah, um. Actually, she gets sent back to Scotland in the 1740's, prior to the second rising against the English. Which, you know, kind of majorly not WW2. (Couldn't tell if that was a typo or not, sorry.) It's very much NOT a Harlequin, which will be quite obvious if you see the books in person -- they're huge. Like 900-odd pages huge. (Harlequins, like the actual ones, are short and brainless) There are a lot of people who don't like the sexual and gender dynamics in the story, but they're very well-researched (verging on "I've done my research, and now you will PAY!") and don't just end when they characters first get married/have sex/have a baby but run through their entire relationship -- I think they're both in their 60's in the most recent one. She gets really into a lot of historical and household economy stuff that I'm geeky about, so I like them; although there is an extreme fall-off in quality in the last couple books. Chica needs an editor BADLY.
