I have to agree with you, OP. My experiences have been similar.

Obviously, there are actual biologically male fans of things, but in the parts of fandom that *I* hang out in? Nothing but women and people who were born as women.

One of the craziest experiences of my life was being at a slash con and having a discussion about the femaleness of the space when the ONE (FtM) man there objected to that point. It really skeeved me out because here was this great female-centric subworld that was fashioned by women, for women, out of a 35+ year history of female creativity and labor.... when this person was all "LOL NOPE". Obviously, slash and fandom as a whole are not limited to women, but to act like they are somehow not one of the few spaces where women are the central actors really disturbs me.

Anon who wrote this post about agreeing w/OP and being at a slash con

*Parts of fandom I hang out in having only women and other female-born people

The one exception is F!S and I have actually had pretty good experiences here with male fans. (Here's to you, insanenoodlyguy~)

They weren't born as "women", they were born as babies. *picky*

(Anonymous) 2013-02-21 12:36 am (UTC)(link)
As biologically female babies. You're just being pedantic and antagonistic.

so are you, for separating males from those "born as women." they're still male. stop being stupid.
