On the one hand, I have no interest in gender-swapping for shipping/porn purposes (I have plenty of ships that are canonically opposite-gender if heterosexual shipping is what I'm in the mood for).

On the other hand... why do you care? How can you assume fic that switches only one character's gender is all about shipping and sex? And how do you know if someone prefers gender-swapped hetero-pairings, unless they actually say so? Even if you are keeping tabs on a fic author's entire output and are able to see patterns in it, that's just what that person writes - you don't know what all they're reading or what other things people who read those fics are reading. Finally, is swapping gender to make a couple straight any different than swapping sexual orientation to make them gay?
