I read the first one but didn't care for it because the main character did not seem like a WW2 British nurse at all and if I wanted to read rapey hurt/comfort, I would read fanfic.

You know, when I read the books the first time, I totally missed where the fuck this lady came from. As in, I totally skipped over "WWII era nurse" somehow and somehow managed to get her stuck in modern times and then go back (I was actually surprised to learn that she was a WWII nurse). There just...wasn't anything in it that screamed that characterization along those lines other than the Godmoded idea of superior medical care. I mean, I know that those ladies were battle axes in the extreme, but...she just...she could have come from anywhere. She was just so generic. Whatever her name was.

I was totally in it for the hot Scots in skirts. NGL.

Oops. Okay I kind of fucked up; I only ever read the first one. I tried to read on, and...yeah, no. Couldn't do it.
