I figure it's a combination of people who are uncomfortable with their bodies/appearance are going to be somewhat more attracted by online social arenas where they can present as they wish and the fact that for transguys being treated as female might be a painful or at least aggravating experience, so they're way more likely to let their fandom friends know that they're guys, while a lot of cisdudes are busy flying under the radar because they're bewildered at not being the minority and are scared of 'reverse prejudice' if people realize they aren't girls.
