Something like 8 out of 10 guys in my fandoms are FTM. Always kinda wondered why that is. I know only one chick who's trans.

I figure it's a combination of people who are uncomfortable with their bodies/appearance are going to be somewhat more attracted by online social arenas where they can present as they wish and the fact that for transguys being treated as female might be a painful or at least aggravating experience, so they're way more likely to let their fandom friends know that they're guys, while a lot of cisdudes are busy flying under the radar because they're bewildered at not being the minority and are scared of 'reverse prejudice' if people realize they aren't girls.

people tend to try and 'fit in' with groups they grew up with, in the case of trans men that means a lot of them grew up socializing with and interacting with more cis women than most men. when you realize you're trans it's not as if you can just shed every part of your life that doesn't 'fit' with that identity-- friends and even fandom are a part of who you are. so fandom is traditionally female-centric, it makes sense that statistically as they grow some of those fans will realize their identity but not necessarily want to leave to what may be considered more 'male' interests.
