I really like this. Because it gives me a way of saying 'No, thank you' without having to lie like a hypocrite or risk being a jerk.

It's respectful and kind, and even though I don't share your believes I feel like we could move on from an encounter like that without anyone having been made feel worse about themselves or the other person.

Yeah, it really works for the best of both parties. It also helps me know your boundaries and not accidentally use prayer as an attack or something.

Almost all of my friends are either atheist or of a different religion so it has really comes in handy when dealing with these kinds of differences. So yeah, it really does help build a firmer foundation for the relationship because now we both know that at least both of us are trying to love one another the best way we know how without trampling over each other's feet.
