I mean, if she had at least lied to him, I would be okay with it (which sounds skeevy, I know), but to have him grow up in a land that does not change, and then send him off to the psychiatrist in the attempt to convince Henry that he's crazy for realizing he's the only one growing up and older?
Nope.
Nopenopenopenopenope.
She gave him a roof over his head, food to eat, and entertainment so he wouldn't go stir crazy. That doesn't mean she was any less abusive for trying to gaslight him into submission.
Not to mention the way she used magic to force Henry to her side when she first got it back in Storybrook (at which point everyone knew she was the evil queen, and had tried to murder her own stepdaughter- they had a reason to be cautious about Henry staying in her household) (she did let him leave, but still, the way she took him is creepy.)
I maintain that she loved him as much as Gothel loved Rapunzel, like a pet at best, something to make herself believe she could love,
What I hate the most is when apologists complain about the Charmings (is that what we're calling them now?) not trusting her when she had ~reasons and ~an ~excuse for her actions, and it was ~all ~Rumpel's ~fault.
1. None of them have any reason to trust her, especially when they get their memories back, and realize she's the reason they were miserable for 28 years.
2. None of them have any reason to trust her because of they way she acted in in FTL.
3. None of them have any reason to believe she's actually changed; deeds, not actions are what is needed, and even then, they are under no obligation to trust her. She was horrible and abusive, blaming a five-year-old for not being able to step up to Cora like Regina di- oh wait, she didn't either, but nope, we're going to blame the child.
4. None of them know Regina's ~tragic ~backstory wrt Gold, the audience does, but none of the FTL people do. Deeds, not actions, again.
...I have a lot of thoughts about this.
(Also, I was just working on basically this secret, so hi~ brain twin~)

I like Once, but the more Regina the less I care.

I can't even imagine what it must have been like for Henry; he would have been the only one aging in town. He'd be in a grade with kids his age, then after awhile he'd be older and they'd be the same, and no one else ever noticed.
Poor kid.

(Anonymous) 2013-02-22 01:15 am (UTC)(link)I always wondered how that worked, tbh. I mean, Cinderella became pregnant and the pregnancy went the full nine months, such that she had a baby. So the world obviously changed somewhat. So are there any kind of rules governing what changes and what doesn't?
