I've had a few OKCupid disasters, but I also met a serious boyfriend and an FWB-type dude off of there who were both perfectly decent -- in both cases it didn't work out, but not because they were the kind of guys you'd associate with online dating.

For whatever reason, I've never managed to meet a girl that way who wasn't immediately off-putting. I'm not making, like, a declarative statement, just saying that it's never worked out for me with ladies.

IDK about this particular one-night stand situation, but for actual dating scenarios, use the usual "stay safe" tips: meet in a public place, don't move at a pace you're not comfortable with, etc.
