I agree about Henry having nothing to compare to. If it's always been that way for you, how do you notice anything different? The book could certainly have been the thing that tipped the scales and made Henry question why he was different.

He also seems rather isolated. Most of the people he seems to know are adults. When I was ten I absolutely did not notice that adults looked older than they did when I was seven or six, or five. Not to mention no one seems to have a good concept of time in the beginning except for Regina and Mr. Gold for obvious reasons, so no one around him was questioning the lack of change. The real questions are how school was handled and why other people didn't notice Henry changing. Did Henry go up in grades while the other kids stayed the same? I'm sure Regina made sure he actually got SOME schooling. How did she keep the teachers from noticing that only Henry was advancing?
