This. (Same industry too). Especially with the dull & self-obsessed bit. Most of the ones I've been friends with are just as dull as the rest of us but think they're so much more interesting. It's doubly worse. And there's extra drama that's just unnecessary. It's just strange situation.

And heck sometimes you don't even need to be friends to learn this. Just browsing their twitters/instagrams is plenty.

(It's not all of them of course.)

Yes exactly. I really don't get why people think that just because someone is famous they are going to be interesting. Plus yes I have some friends who are celebs who are lovely and I like them a lot, but no more lovely than my other friends who work in regular jobs and not the show business.

Oh and yes to the drama and insecurities meaning neurosis.

I remember once being backstage having a drink with the leads in a big musical, I was there because one of the leads was a close friend of someone in my family, so I knew them as a family friend, but know nothing of musicals so didn't realise that the other leads had big fan bases and were quite famous. Anyhow after about an hour I left with one of these celebs, and there were hundreds of screaming fans behind a barrier waiting for him. I just didn't get why they would bother, I mean he was OK, but not that interesting. Why wait out in the cold for a glimpse of someone who yes has a talent, but it doesn't make their personality any different to anyone else.
