I actually like these kind of fics because (quoting one other commenter) "I like the idea of two incompatible people being stuck together and having to find a way to make it work."
HOWEVER, I feel uncomfortable when this is portrayed in a very unrealistic manner. Like when it's abusive and borderline non-con and then the other goes like "K, I hated you 2 seconds ago but now I suddenly love you because you did this one good act". No, no, no and no.
So yes, I kind of get what you mean.
