I actually feel pretty terrible for Damara. As much as I adore Rufioh (on principle) what he did her her was shitty. Same for Meenah, actually...

(Why are so many of my favorite characters shitty people... </3) Anyway, Kurloz is just...already crazy I guess? He's a creepy fucker but to me he just seems deluded. So basically I don't hate either of them? I don't particularly love them though compared to other characters.

I actually agree with you on this. I don't hate either of them...I like Damara more, but that's solely because I find her more interesting (I'm one of those seemingly-rare people who straight-up never really cared much for the Makaras in general, though, and I've always been a huge Megido fan), and I acknowledge that she's a horrible person. (I think Meenah might be my favorite pre-scratch troll, though, and she's ALSO a horrible person, so...)

I like Rufioh well enough, but cheating just ain't cool. And Meenah was awful to her, that's pretty much undeniable.

(Actually, I kind of relate, in a very tangential way, to Damara. The whole "being bullied until you finally lose it" thing, I mean. Not to that extent, obviously, but I sure as hell don't trust people anywhere near as much as I used to.)

As for Kurloz...I guess I was just never interested in him? He just seemed like Gamzee 2.0 to me, and I never liked Gamzee much (not to the degree of the rest of the fandom, anyway).

Okay this got rambly, but basically they're both nasty people and probably both deserve to be punched in the face.

I'm kind of with you on the Makaras. I thought Gamzee was super boring until he went sober (and now he's kind of boring again, and somewhat annoying to boot). Kurloz is delightfully creepy in appearance and mannerisms, but his personality and story don't add that much for me.

Hehe, I love Meenah. She's a horrible person but she has some redeeming qualities. I love the way she approaches people and the give-and-take she has with Aranea, and also her design - it vies for one of my favorite troll designs in the comic. I adore Rufioh for a lot of reasons but one of the biggest is that he's probably the ancestor I was most anticipating seeing lol. It kind of sucks to have him do something so shitty to Damara, but it's at least something that is redeemable and ideally he'd have remorse and choose to better himself etc etc but then it all kind of blew up on everyone when Damara went wild.

...my favorite character in Homestuck is Vriska, if that says anything about me. But I was so upset when she killed Tavros that I almost stopped reading the comic even though I'd fallen completely in love with it by then (I was catching up at the time). I'm glad I kept going, though. One reason I love Vriska is how she goes and goes and goes on the path to make herself like Mindfang - badass but totally evil, basically completely unredeemable - but the influences of the other characters (such as her arc with John) and the events of sburb started to change her just a little bit before she died. It's sad that she never got the chance when she was alive to keep going in that direction. I think she really regretted killing Tavros - not that that excuses it but it really sets her apart from Mindfang who wouldn't have thought twice about something like that.

Also, she's cool. :::;)
