Is bored-computer-girl supposed to be your face while reading fic in general, or is this what you look like when you find consensual sex?

(do you like dubious consent, or just straight out non-con? Usually I can get behind dub-con, but non-con squicks me to no end, and I'm curious on your reasoning)

I'll go ahead and state the obvious

Consensual sex doesn't need to be fluffy.

I'll go ahead and second this...

When I say I bite, I am really not joking.

Thank you. Because I'd mostly agree with OP on skipping fluffy consensual sex, but I'm totally into consensual sex that's some flavor of violent, D/s, consent play, guro, etc.

+1

That said, in some fandoms 95% of it is.

I came here to say this.
OP probably just wants to sound ~cool~ "Ohh, anything that isn't rape is too fluffy for me"

THIS. I get squicked by fluff that is super super fluffy

good for you anon.like whatever you're going to like, you're not hurting anyone.

i guess i kinda understand this (hell,i think i'm guilty for it too). that's what fanfic's about, exploring different parts of a character that may or may not be explored in canon, even if it means subjecting them to an unhealthy/abusive treatment.

I'm the same. With some exceptions, I pretty much only like dramatic stuff, and in general I find a dub-con or non-con scene a lot more exciting and I have a thing for power dynamics. Obviously not applicable to my irl relationships.

As long as you grasp that there's a difference between fictional and real and wouldn't actually rape someone, there's no problem.

I have an odd tendency to only read dialogue in sex scenes anyway (not quite sure what this means...), but I lose interest even faster when it's straight fluff.

Same. I started reading at an age when...let's say there were plenty of 'Do not read this is you're under' buttons that I lied to...so I kind of got into the habit of wincing and skipping anything too explicit. Now that it *is* age-appropriate but I think I might be asexual, I do the same thing.

Sex scenes in long fic usually bore me anyway; most of the time it's stock vanilla filler because the author thinks they need to inject porn to keep an audience. Non con tends to be plot-related, at least.

I'm not terribly fond of sex scenes where nothing happens.

And, well, since a large subset of scenes that advance the plot/have something interesting going on are going to involve interpersonal conflict, and with sex involved, a considerable subset of those are going to involve consent issues... yes, that means dub-con/non-con might be overrepresented among sex scenes that are actually worth reading, especially if your OTP involves terrible people being terrible at each other. But it's not the only way a sex scene can be interesting. (And conversely, some non-con scenes are narratively boring as shit, particularly if one character is serving as an inert punching bag for the author to play out their fantasies on.)
