While I agree on the first, not so sure I do on the second. I have come of the aid of many a person that I "only shared a bond over a media product" with, and had several give me aid, both figurative and literal.

Basically. Being in fandom together isn't any more indicative of friendship or common camaraderie than owning the same brand of shoes.

Count on it, no. Expect if of each other, though? I prefer spaces, even fandom spaces, where basic decency is expected. And more solidarity would be a welcome addition.
