I could have sworn there were scenes in Season 7 were she said she had loved him, or that implied a deeper, more wholesome relationship than what we actually saw, but if I'm wrong, then good.

There were moments when Buffy told Spike she loved him, and he said something back like "no you don't but thanks anyway"

i have difficulty accepting any of buffy's relationships myself haha. there were quite a few...

That happened once, in the final few minutes of the finale.

I think it's fair to say Buffy gained an appreciation for Spike that grew to almost something like friendship (after a trip through "using you for sex because it's better than dealing with my own issues" with a few stops in Hatesville along the way) but I would never call any feelings she had for him romantic love.

(And there were four relationships over the course of seven years -- and that's counting her one-night-stand with Parker, who pretty much disappeared after two episodes, as a relationship.)
