That's not about stopping a troll. It's about saying that as a part of the fandom, you don't like to share space with shit behavior, and you are willing to call it when you see it. It's also about letting the person being attacked know that you're not complicit in what's happening to them or accepting of it. It's the difference between being the internet equivalent of someone who aids and abets bullies by standing by quietly and watching them harass, and being someone who gives a tangible fuck about the person they're hurting.

Ah, no. I have nothing against people watching out for themselves. But there's a difference between not risking for that reason, and just throwing your hands up with a blanket "it wouldn't do any good."

I was kind of surprised to see this subthread, actually, after all the 'If you call yourself a brony but don't stand up to the worthless abusive bronies, you're just as bad as they are' that's gone on on F!s.
