Maybe it's just me but I haven't seen Jorah do anything unjustifiably wrong in the show yet? It's implied he's into Dany but they haven't shown him acting like she owes him or treating her disrespectfully.

Maybe this side of him comes off stronger in the written word when you can get inside of characters heads?

Well in the book, like he is oogling her enough to make her feel uncomfortable and to tell him to stop it. So yeah. He's creepier in the books than he is on the show.
