I don't really think that's what people are complaining about when they complain about Jorah being hot.
The thing is: in the books, Jorah is a creeper. He has Nice Guy tendencies and yeah. But I think that show audiences find it a bit easier to forgive because well, he's smoking hot. His grossness is kind of pushed to the background or ignored because he's so attractive.
That's what people are generally complaining about.

I am trying to see how that is sexist.
The root of those complaints is that in the books Jorah is a creeper and kinda gross.
But in the show he's hot and thus it is tempting to ship him with Dany in spite of knowing his book canon grossness.
And that's why people complain.

But being shallow isn't the same as being sexist.
Plus the show has toned down Jorah's creepiness anyway.

This. At this point in the show, they've kind of revealed Jorah's feelings, but he hasn't acted in any sexually inappropriate way towards Daenerys (yet).
And he seemed to stop spying out of genuine guilt, not because he wants to get in her pants.
Regardless of whether or not one likes the changes they've made, they run far deeper than just making him prettier. So far at least.

(Anonymous) 2013-02-24 09:07 pm (UTC)(link)however, I haven't actually witnessed fans saying things like that about Jorah or Dany, probably because I'm just not that interested in them. SO I can't really say that this is happening, lol. But if it is I could see that it might be sexist depending on the way people are expressing it. Not against him, though, because being more forgiving to a character/person who is attractive isn't a gender-specific thing, it happens to men and women both...

And to be fair, Jorah's creepiness has been downplayed in the show a lot. So it also makes sense that people wouldn't object to Dany/Jorah from a creepiness perspective as much on the show as they would from the books, just based on that alone.

His voice.
IDEK.
But I think he's one of the most attractive dudes on the show.

Maybe this side of him comes off stronger in the written word when you can get inside of characters heads?
