It's ducT tape, D U C T tape, not duck tape (unless it literally has pictures of ducks on the tape). Yes, people tend to pronounce it as duck tape instead of ducT tape but pronounciation =/= spelling.

If I have to see that one more time, esp., in a thriller-type story (he duck taped her mouth shut--no, no he didn't and you just gave me a hilarious mental image destroying any suspense you had in your story), it'll be too soon.

Huh, I always assumed it was some kind of brand name but I was picturing duct tape.

There IS a brand of duct tape called Duck Tape.

I say duck tape because it is a brand of duct tape, and it's the most common brand. Hence duck tap.

I actually had to google "duck faucet" for that, because "duck tap" comes up with...duct tape. But there are a lot of cute duck faucets. I want this one.
