I've started seeing this more often in dialogue recently - "jesus!" uncapitalized.

Listen, authors. I get that you don't buy into that Christianity business and you know fine whatever. Most days I don't know how much I buy it either.

But it's STILL A PROPER NAME. I promise you won't get believer cooties on you if you use an uppercase j.

If it makes you feel that icky, just use some other exclamation, seriously. There are plenty of other options out there.
