I wasn't wild about Hatchworth at first (though I loved his backstory) but he's already grown on me so much! I totally love him now, and he's only going to get better the longer Sam is a bot! I think the way he talks is so cute, like he hasn't had the time the others have had to get more nuanced.
Anyway Jon just wasn't as committed as the others to the band! I think they'll go a lot further and make a lot of great stuff with everyone being 100% on board. I love the Jon, i totally even CRIED when I found out he was leaving, BUT i really believe in SPG, this is a good decision!

I don't believe for an instant that Jon wasn't committed. Bunny admitted on Tumblr (and then took it down, I noticed) that they "just didn't want to work with him anymore." Jon was fired without warning or recourse, which to me indicated a personal rather than professional reason even before the recent post-and-delete.

I actually wanted very much to love Hatchworth, but so far I just...don't. I like him well enough, but he doesn't resonate with me the same way The Jon did. :(

Oh? I read like the super long post that said he just wasn't showing up for practice and was getting drunk and high at shows?
I mean that's like, a personal reason AND a professional reason? I mean it sounded like they tried talking to him about it many times and he didn't want to change it, Which i mean that's his business, he's an adult! But if no one in the band wanted him to stay, that's probably not a good sign?

The Band Steam powered Giraffe,
Three of the main members play as robots from the 1890s, they were originally built for war, but when the war ended they became a band.
They all have an elaborate backstory, the music is very fun and they stay in-character/makeup the whole performance.

The three original bots were (there was another, a girl but she's not part of the secret named Upgrade)
David Bennett as The Spine
Bunny Bennett as The Rabbit
Jon Sprague as The Jon

Jon Sprague and the band had an falling out where he left the band, he is not active on any website so we never got his side of the story, but the message from the other members is he just wasn't adhering to the standard they wanted, wasn't showing up for practice, or was getting high or drunk at the wrong times. He was a very talented member of the band and lot's of people were sad to see him go.
The band doesnt work as well with only 2 robots so they had another member of the band, the also very talented Sam Luke, play as a new robot, Hatchworth.

Fans are still pretty sad, angry, confused, whathaveyou, at the leaving of The Jon, he was a lot of peoples favorites, and reactions to Hatchworth have been sort of mixed. In my opinion, he's great but he hasn't had the years of pretending to be a robot behind him yet so he isn't as well rounded as a character as the other two.

I feel like this is either an attempt at trolling or a fan who had hoped to join the band. It's not the sentiment, just the way it's expressed, it seems so angry.

Is this band really that popular? Or is this one fan (or band member idefk) making secrets for publicity?

Seriously, I listened to their music and it's nothing spectacular. It doesn't help that I know a fair bit about one of them and that person both skeeves me out and pisses me off. So. Maybe I'm biased, I dunno, but it seems like any time they show up in my world, someone's creaming their pants over their mediocre music.

Is it the dress-up? Backstories? Fuck, I don't get it.

They have plenty enough fans for secrets. I've thought more than once about making one, but I'm too lazy.

Everyone has their own taste in music, so I fail to see why this is so baffling to you. I don't like hip-hop or thrashing guitars but I can accept that others do.

I love SPG's music. It has a bluegrass/folk feeling to it, albeit without the country twang. The lyrics are easy to understand and fun to sing along with, and the harmonies are lovely. I adore the concept of the robots, the make-up and character personalities, and the backstory world they created. Watching/listening to them makes me happy in times when few other things will. I adore them.

The "Fanmily," on the other hand...*facepalm* I know that I am not the only rational adult in their fanbase, but seeing as their online fandom consists mostly of Tumblr teenies screaming for attention, if often feels that way.
