Because of the vocal minority and what people say about MLP fans I've become afraid of people fincing I write MLP fic. Liking MLP has become such a big deal lately on the internet and I think it's stupid.

I like MLP. Big deal. I also like Danny Phantom, Fairly OddParents , Pokemon, and a slew of other cartoon shows. If someone's going to judge me for liking one cartoons why don't they judge me for just liking cartoons? I see some people nowadays who seem to love blurting out how they think liking cartoons is something pedophiles do. Which is stupid and fucked up to accuse someone of but also...why was no one giving me grief about this when I was a 14 year old girl who still liked the Fairly Oddparents?

TBF I think it's a big deal because there are a lot of fans making it a big deal. I've only seen Homestuck, Harry Potter and Supernatural matching bronies in general "fans mentioning their fandom everywhere"-ness. Sure, those kinds of fans are in every fandom, but gigantic ones obviously have more of them and bronies did get a lot of attention from non-fandom places.

That said? People have always given others grief for watching cartoons. My guess is you either didn't run into them, or they gave you grief for being childish/immature. If they start with "pedo"-accusations it's usually because the fan is over a certain age, or their first run-in with fandom was porn.

Ah true . I've made a comment about MLP fans treating their cartoon like a religion on a reddit comm telling people "gosh calm your shit okay?" I actually got an upvote for it. I think people would be easier on them if they just went "eh I like the show"

(also people joke that it's because they're autistic. .____. I'm mildly austitic and I know that shit is annoying as hell. So uh no)

Oh I got the immature stuff. That makes sense. Though there was some porn in DP fandom, which even the hyper-vigilant fandom police couldn't stop.

(But they tried. Beeeeelieve me they tried. The rest of us wish they hand't tried so hard. I heard they even tried spreading a rumor that a popular r34 artist was a convicted offender without any proof and labeling anyone who wrote anything mildly referencing something adult like alcohol references MADE BY ADULTS they were slapped with the anti-fan label and told they secretly hated the show. Those were the days. I used to live in fright that I was going to get ban hammered for anything. o.0)

That's why I disliked them at first and couldn't get into the show - hype backlash ahoy! I only got into it once my Brony-friends calmed down about it.

I was around for some of it! I was called a pedo for shipping Danny/Vlad at the OMG mature age of... 16. But wow, alcohol? They would've had to ban my entire high school! Not only did some of us drink beer - we had *gasp* actually useful sex ed!

I was lucky enough to have friends who just drew it and didn't force it on me.

Oh wow really? I was about 14 when I got into it all. I wasn't into that so much. I'm ashamed to say I was a bit of a follower and jumped on the "I HATE SAM" bandwagon for a short amount of time. Then I loved Danny/Sam... Then I decided I didn't like it , but not because of any character but the way it was done in season 3. Now I'm solidly against character bashing because it just seems quite immature.

But yeah the Radical True Fans and their "if you ship slash you secretly hate Danny Phantom" bugged me. (Later I met some rational people on the Truefan side who believed in just not writing explicit porn or super graphic violence. They even have a fic where Dash is gay.) It was kinda scary how nasty they could be. and that one chick/dude White Gryphon always rubbed me the wrong way. :/ Yeah I know someone who was mod warned for it-for a wine ALLUSION no less.

(also I really objected to the rumor spreading because, well spreading rumors about people being convicts is a really slippery slope. After you pull it off and you're fanatic enough, what's to stop you from spreading other damaging rumors to ruin people you don't like?)

Are you still in the fandom. I write fic for it still, because it still has a lot of cool concepts. (I'm writing an semi AU fic right now.)

I thought Danny/Sam were cute, but their relationship is one of the (many) reasons I stopped watching season 3. (So much wasted potential!)

Same here. Why would I ship chara from a fandom I didn't like? The wine allusion is doubly silly because at least one guy was drunk during Bitter Reunions. Not to mention all the other allusions in the show!

Just have to look at the Purple Tinker situation! Between that and the current Unicon drama I've lost faith in brony-cons :(

I'm not, but sometimes I check out fanwork for nostalgia's sake.
