Ken Taylor was robbed and Argo was an abomination of American propaganda on roughly the same level as Wag the Dog, only without the satire.

If Hollywood had wanted to award American propaganda, they had plenty of options this year. Argo won because it was Hollywood propaganda, not because it was American propaganda.

Bingo. If there is one thing the Academy loves, it's itself.

Exactly: I mean, seriously: it's a movie about how a fake movie production saves lives. It's like masturbation day.

I thought it was actually a great movie, but there were other great ones this year, and this was clear Oscar fodder.

Didn't The Artist, another movie about movies, win Best Picture last year? And that movie was so over rated.

Yep!

The Academy is not subtle.

To be fair to Argo, I don't think it was Oscar fodder. It basically snuck (that's not a word?) up entirely on all the Oscar-prediction people. Affleck seems to love making tense action movies and this one just happened to catch Hollywood's beady little eyes.

I thought it was pretty much both.

Argo was a national treasure and Ken Taylor should be shot for treason simply for going against it.

Also Django should have won every award Argo couldn't. Just saying.

I can't believe a movie based on an autobiography focused on the guy who wrote the autobiography that is like so egregious it's not like the Canadian ambassador got a hell of a lot of screentime or anything
