I am getting so tired of this "they're female and that's a good enough reason to love them and stan them and get in your face and call you a misogynist if you disagree" trend. Not just because the namecalling gets old really fast, but I feel like it's unbelievably coddling. It's like saying women can't handle being called anything bad for any reason, and must be protected and pampered at all costs. Fuck off, that sort of thinking belongs in the '50s.

Sometimes there are shitty female characters, and I will dislike a shitty character regardless of gender. Disliking a female character is not misogyny. Disliking a character because she's female is misogyny. Nothing more than that.

History has a sad way of repeating itself.

...well it seems that way.

EXACTLY.

I agree.

It's like in Community with Britta liking Minerva just because she was the only female inspector.

This. I'm tired of having people scream "misogyny" if I dare point out flaws in the way a female character was written. Newsflash: if a character serves no purpose in the plot other than to be a love interest, THEY ARE A SHITTY CHARACTER and it's not being misogynistic to point this out.
