I was under a general anesthesia so I can't say anything about the procedure, but the recovery wasn't all that bad. I was in bed for two days (or so I've been told; it felt like two years). I was sore for a few weeks but after about the first one it wasn't all the time. I have a ton of medical issues and my doctor said they contributed to making my recovery slower and apparently more painful than usual.

Do you know what specific procedure you had? The wikipedia article lists nine different kinds of tubal ligation procedures

Pretty sure it was bipolar coagulation but I couldn't say with absolute certainty. It was almost 10 years ago.
