Ok so the movie Mulan came out when I was in high school, like 16 or whatever. The point is that I was too old to be crying at Disney films. I went to see it with my family and by the end of the movie, the scene with Mulan and her father really made me cry, like, a ridiculous amount. I didn't really think about it until I was well out of college but I think the reason I was so moved by that scene was because I always wanted my dad to be proud of me and I felt like he never was, and that no matter how well I did in school or at my job or whatever he would never be satisfied with that. Everyone wants a parent to be proud of them, you know?

Don't know if that counts as "sappy" or not but you know, Disney does go out of their way to evoke emotion out of their audience so it probably is
