Four was never my favourite to begin with. I love plenty of his serials, but I normally feel like I'm laughing at him instead of being attached to him the way I am with most of the others.

Each individual Doctor is, in many ways, more connected to his actor than the average character. After all, so much of what makes the show special is based around how much that character changes when he changes actors.

I totally agree with several other people in this thread that I've liked several Doctors way more after reading/watching some interviews with their actors. DW fandom is pretty lucky with how many of its actors and actresses appear to be honestly lovely and intelligent people in real life, and at how engaged with the show many of them seem to still be, even the ones for whom its decades after the fact.

Plus, it was Tennant's enthusiasm that got me from 'I like this show' to 'FANDOM!', and from 'I like the new series' to 'Well, if he's so excited about the Classic series, it's certainly worth a go'.
(Which then turned into me liking certain portions of Classic Who quite a lot better)

Yeah, someone used the phrase "The Tom Baker Comedy half Hour" in one of the Who lj-groups a few days ago, and that sums up my feelings for a lot of his stuff. There was some good stuff early on when they were doing the old Hammer Horror type scripts and the last two stories were good (would be great, but for Adric being in them), the rest of it is just Tom mugging for the camera and being silly. Plus he once did an entire scene with a massive booger hanging from his nose and refused to let them reshoot it because it was funny.
