i have no idea what gimp is like but i learned that pixlr was a thing last week and it seems like a fairly legit substitute.

for those interested i should probably also mention that it is free, or, in other words, $700 cheaper than photoshop

To be fair, Photoshop CS2 was free, last time I checked. And works better than both GIMP and pixlr.
