Well, if it makes you feel better, watch Maleficent address some very wealthy hillbillies.

I think it's more squicky if the genders were reversed because if the young one was a girl and she had hit puberty already, she would have been expected to bear a child sooner (as in, as early as 13), while in this situation no one is expecting the couple to even consummate. I don't know the specifics of their particular culture; maybe they wait until the girl is over 16 at least, but that is what my mind jumps to.

I'm not really sold on "The Stars (Are Out Tonight)" yet, but I've only listened to it twice so far. I'm sure it will grow on me. But I am glad Tilda and Bowie have finally appeared in the same room, proving they really are two people. And yes, I'm looking forward to the new album! :D

I have a question for anyone who can answer it. If you see a trailer at the cinema in 3D for a 3D movie is the quality of the 3D effects in that trailer likely to be the same quality of those in the actual movie, or will they continue to tweak it? Because the 3D trailer for the new Star Trek movie was shit. But I'm looking forward to seeing it in 2D!

Re: Have you ever fallen out of love with a show, then back in love?

(Anonymous) 2013-03-01 01:03 am (UTC)(link)
I don't think it's that unusual, but... Supernatural. I've watched it from the beginning, then abandoned it during season 3 due to life problems. Lots of years later, I marathoned season three-four-five in a month and then came season six and all my love just flew out of the window. I hated everything they did to the characters and that made me quite bitter (and all that fandom wank was disturbing), so I quitted. But then lately I've restarted the show and... this season is actually pretty good -for SPN standard- and I'm once again caring for the characters (bloody hell, when will the Winchester stop hurting?!). Now I'm craving more episodes because I've catched up and I want to know where they're headed!

Also, Buffy. I fell out of love with season seven, refused to rewatch the other seasons for long, long (sad) years, but then I saw an episode on TV and decided to rewatch it once again. I loved every single episode, this time. Ah, Buffy! <3

Oh god, all the time. Most startlingly with Naruto and Bleach. First I loved both equally, then started to HATE Bleach during the Karakura Town arc because there were too many characters and fights to follow, so I focused all my love on Naruto.

Then I started to hate Naruto (every single minor character getting a sob story flashback in the middle of their fight before dying, recycled motivations and plots, plot holes, too many characters, I started disliking the art), and stopped reading.

I glutted myself on FMA for awhile, then idled back over to Bleach after coming across a couple good fanfics. I realized it wasn't that bad, and actually I really like Kubo's art style and the characters, and fell in love with it again and voraciously caught up on everything I'd missed.

After catching up I started reading the new chapters each week, which eventually lead to starting up reading the new Naruto as well. For a couple months I just eye rolled all the time, but the last few chapters have been interesting and I think I might be coming around to it again.

This happens to me with Glee several times per episode.

Re: Ships you used to love but don't anymore

(Anonymous) 2013-03-01 01:04 am (UTC)(link)
Most of the pairings I've ever shipped fall into this category. I get rabidly into a pairing and then gradually lose interest.

Yeah, this fandom has some excellent fic, it's just. Weirdly OOC. The fanon characters differ wildly from the canon ones and I don't understand how that happened to this degree, hahaha.

Thank you, anon. This comment has made me want to work on my fic for the werewolf big bang. I've been letting it gather dust because I've been so frustrated with this fandom. ;3;

CJ and Toby from The West Wing

Ten and Donna from Doctor Who

Sisko and Dax from Star Trek DS9

Frasier and Roz from Frasier

Ron and Leslie from Parks and Rec

Harry and Hermione from Harry Potter

Jack and Liz from 30 Rock

Lassiter and Juliet from Psych

Barney and Lily and Marshall and Robin from How I Met Your Mother

There's probably more...

Ohhhh anon! I second all the movies on your list, especially Stoker. I think I've convinced a friend to go with me to it, so I'm super excited to see it when it comes out! It looks like a good thriller, with possible jump scares. Awesome.

Benson and Stabler. Don't get me wrong, I will read ALL the E/O fanfic, but I'm really glad they never went there in canon. Same with Goren and Eames (but not so much with the fic, because I can't see them as anything but friends).

Re: Is it wrong...

except not.

Attraction is an instinctive reaction that just happens. It is by its nature uncontrollable. What you can control is whether or not to act upon that reaction.
