How exactly would you control that sort of thing? Your brain knows he's not a good dude, but you can't just switch off "I think he's attractive."

Since when? I don't understand this comment. You can switch off whatever thoughts you want, if you have enough presence of mind and willpower to do so. I pity you if you think you are at the mercy of your own thoughts, instead of the reverse.

Really? You can just switch off thoughts, like that? Never get a song stuck in your head, or keep thinking about something you don't want to? You might be a robot.

The condescension is noted, but not necessary.

Also, it's not thoughts, but physical attraction we're talking about here.

Okay I will own that I was a bit harsh upthread, I didn't intend for it to be condescending, I apologize. I'm hardly a robot, but yes, I can switch off thoughts, if I don't want to think about something....I don't? Why is this so strange? I find the reverse to be strange, tbh.

You are the abnormal one. Or you are overestimating your own ability to do these things.

Maybe you can and that's cool. Like, really, that's neat.

It might be good to understand though that most humans can't do that. And try not to be a jerk because we can't.

(It kind of reminds me about how some humans are able to control their heartbeat but that's very rare...)

I honestly wasn't trying to be a jerk! OK maybe my initial post was a bit harsh, but I apologized upthread for that. I certainly don't think it makes me any better or worse than anyone else (F!S highly disagrees it seems). And I didn't think it was that strange, thus easy enough for anyone to do it, but I guess not?
