Uh well. In the vein of BioWare ships, I really adore FemShep/Garrus, but I try to distance myself from a good chunk of its fans. I met lots of great fans of the ship (plus reeeally good fanworks), but a whole lot more crazy ones (fan and fanworks included).

Yep. I actually was convinced to ship them by a friend, but I won't actually admit I like their ship because of how crazy demanding their shippers are. I could swear I remember a thread about how BioWare should make it possible to have hybrid babies. Maybe that was Talimancer stuff...

Same with Thane/Shepard. I was always accepting of Thane dying of his illness, but you were NOT allowed to say that to his shippers.

I don't go to BSN because it's a cesspool, but I've heard the Talimancers there are pretty... extreme. And if I've had bad Garrusmancer experiences outside of BSN, I don't want to see it on the inside.

The Thane romance is a ...touchy subject I find. He was one of my two romances (Garrus was the other as you might have guessed), and I was fine with him dying too. It's HOW it was all handled in ME3 that a lot of fans have a problem with. But that's a whole other rant. :)

Actually, I agree. I think every romance but Tali, Garrus, and Liara were handled terribly in ME3. Jacob's was by far the worst, but followed by Thane.

Still, a very large portion of Thane fans explicitly wanted him to survive, not just to die better.

Hmm. What about the Kaidan romance? Fans seemed to be happy with that - and actually, I hear Liaramancers still complain about theirs at times.

Yeah, there was a drive to cure Thane, but I thought turning around and saving him in ME3 would have cheapened his character a bit (partly because you know he's going to die the second you meet him in 2). I just don't like that he wasn't even acknowledged after his death at all, except by Shepard and Kai Leng.

Oh man, I totally forgot about Kaidan. He's just such a non-entity if you don't romance him.

I honestly don't know how a Liara fan could complain--she's easily the most preferred and exposed love interest.

But, yeah, I was not happy with how Thane's romance turned out. I was not happy that Shepard and Thane basically treat each other as friends (not to mention you can actually tell where the friendship/love lines are being sewn together), how he has very little relevance to the plot, and I really wish they didn't have Kirrahe has a back-up for Thane. I think that really cheapened his death.

Not to mention the game treats it as if you had no love interest at the end of the game. Kaidan was hitting on the Shepard (since I romanced him in ME1), and there was no option to tell him "sorry, my boyfriend just died, lay off".

Not to mention the game treats it as cheating on him. Ugh.

Yeah, BioWare reeeeallly liked to push Liara throughout the series. But from what I hear Liara and Shepard's ME3 scenes aren't much different between romanced and non-romanced (except before Cronos Station of course), though that may have been a bug and I dunno if they ever fixed it?

Don't forget, they did have their OOC makeout session in the middle of the hospital! :D I wish there was more to Thane's death scene for romanced Shepard and... a chance to get Paramour with him. And then he died and no one acknowledged it. Instead I get back to the Normandy and Garrus is just saying no more names went on the memorial wall. Um, EXCUSE ME

(Edit: Also: I like that he took on Kai Leng despite being near death. I DON'T like that Shepard and co. JUST STOOD AROUND. And took off while Thane was crippled even further. What the fuck.)

That.. bothered me from what I saw of the Kaidan romance. Yet if a dudeShep romances Ashley in ME1 and then someone else in 2, he at least got to tell Ash 'well you walked away on Horizon.' WHY COULDN'T FEMSHEPS SAY THAT TO KAIDAN.

/rant
