idk what this is about but if it's about a celebrity, too fucking bad if they "don't want the pics out there." they chose a lifestyle that puts them in the public eye. they just need to deal with it.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-02 12:27 am (UTC)(link)
I'm sure they're aware of their lives being under a microscope if they're a celebrity, but there's nothing wrong with asking for some privacy.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-02 12:32 am (UTC)(link)
they can ask for it but it's unreasonable to expect it in the age of tmz. if you don't want photos on the net, you seriously can't have photos that exist.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-02 12:28 pm (UTC)(link)
um, what the heck? The pressure should NOT be on these people for wanting private lives. The fault is on tmz and the overall culture that encourages it. People should be able to have whatever kind of career they want without having their entire lives be made a spectacle of - people may take different steps to stop that happening, or not bother to stop it at all, but there is never a reason not to respect someone's request for privacy (unless you have reasonable suspicion that they're doing something which is hurting someone).

This is why I reblog ~*Benny*~ dancing Thriller and ~*Martin and Amanda's*~ kids every time, lmao. I just love watching that batshit fandom become "protective" of people who would step over them if they were dying in the street. I'm laughing rn thinking about it because last time I got this long-ass message from this fan about "Olivia" and this person and that person like she actually knew them. It was so fucking hilarious.

Ahhh, yes. Benny - a face that launched a thousand ships.

That's kind of a dick move, TBH. But whatever!

(Anonymous) 2013-03-02 12:44 am (UTC)(link)
Aren't you the one who's known for misogyny/homophobia/being friends with neo_prodigy/every horrible thing ever? And the one who replies to comments left 18 months earlier trying to start shit? I just find it amusing that you would tell anyone else what a dick move is, lol.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-02 12:56 am (UTC)(link)
This thread sure escalated quickly.

Wow, run out of real arguments that soon?

Aren't you the one who's known for being an anonymous coward? I think so!

(Anonymous) 2013-03-02 01:01 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm sure you're thinking of someone else.

Move along.

Unless those kids have given permission for their faces to be all over the internet (and the fact that you don't apparently know their names suggests that they haven't) you have no right to reblog their photos. Seriously, fuck you.

This.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-02 02:58 am (UTC)(link)
Puhleeze, their parents have already allowed their faces all over the internet by posing with them at events. Unclench those pearls.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-02 03:49 am (UTC)(link)
...which is their fault and means that they deserve it.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-02 07:15 am (UTC)(link)
Huh? It means the photos are in the public realm, fangirl.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-02 09:04 am (UTC)(link)
Their parents have chosen a certain lifestyle and thereby consented to things like their pictures being in circulation.

Their kids haven't.

Just because it's easily technologically possible and will probably happen doesn't mean it's not also a total douche move.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-02 02:15 am (UTC)(link)
You spread photos of innocent children who have nothing to do with your irrational hatred of celebrities?

Sorry, sweets, but most people would step right over you if you were dying in the street. That's not something that's done by only those celebrities you disdain; it's something that's done by regular, ordinary people, every day.

Truth to tell, you come across as extremely insecure and bitter. For whatever reason, you've decided that anyone who's in the limelight deserves your scorn for having dared to put themselves out there, and that makes you pathetic.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-02 05:15 am (UTC)(link)
Wow. You're making the Sherlock fandom look good for once.

No, they don't need to "deal with it," people can accept that just because someone writes a book you like or plays a character you like, doesn't mean you deserve unfettered access to their private life. Jesus fucking christ, what is wrong with you?

Seconding this so hard. Some fans' sense of entitlement can be frightening.

I'd prefer if people became writers/actors/singers/whatever because they like to write/act/sing/whatever and are really good at it, not because they don't mind if the whole world knows everything about them.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-02 02:10 am (UTC)(link)
This attitude really bothers me. The fact that someone has chosen a career that makes him or her visible is not an excuse to treat that person like he or she has no right to ever keep anything private.

By necessity, actors and authors must live in the public eye under certain circumstances. They don't have to live in the public eye outside the realm of their jobs. People like you feel as if you have some sort of ownership of celebrities, but you don't. They are people doing a job. They are not beholden to you, and they are not slaves to the camera. The fact that so many nowadays think that they are is sick.

This so freaking much.

I hate when people say "They shouldn't have chosen to be celebritites if they don't want people to do douche thing X"

(Anonymous) 2013-03-02 10:23 am (UTC)(link)
I totally agree with you in the sense that if actors or other celebs choose to only interact with the public about work then that's fair enough, and we have no right to their private life. I wouldn't dream of approaching a celebrity if they are out shopping or at a restaurant etc, I think it's just rude.

However I do feel that those celebs who sell the photos of their home and children and weddings and make a mini series of their lives, well they reap what they sew. Not to mention the tip offs they give to papparazi about which restaurants they are going to. Thing is those who want to be very private do seem to manage it.

No idea why Mark Gattis and his partner would make interesting wedding photos.
