He's married?

(Anonymous) 2013-03-02 12:23 am (UTC)(link)
Google tells me that Mark Gatiss is married to Ian Hallard, and apparently they don't want their wedding photos all over the internet, for which I cannot blame them.

I don't even know who they are... though the name Mark Gatiss sounds familiar.

idk what this is about but if it's about a celebrity, too fucking bad if they "don't want the pics out there." they chose a lifestyle that puts them in the public eye. they just need to deal with it.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-02 12:27 am (UTC)(link)
I'm sure they're aware of their lives being under a microscope if they're a celebrity, but there's nothing wrong with asking for some privacy.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-02 12:32 am (UTC)(link)
they can ask for it but it's unreasonable to expect it in the age of tmz. if you don't want photos on the net, you seriously can't have photos that exist.

This is why I reblog ~*Benny*~ dancing Thriller and ~*Martin and Amanda's*~ kids every time, lmao. I just love watching that batshit fandom become "protective" of people who would step over them if they were dying in the street. I'm laughing rn thinking about it because last time I got this long-ass message from this fan about "Olivia" and this person and that person like she actually knew them. It was so fucking hilarious.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-02 12:38 am (UTC)(link)
Ahhh, yes. Benny - a face that launched a thousand ships.

Unless those kids have given permission for their faces to be all over the internet (and the fact that you don't apparently know their names suggests that they haven't) you have no right to reblog their photos. Seriously, fuck you.

You spread photos of innocent children who have nothing to do with your irrational hatred of celebrities?

Sorry, sweets, but most people would step right over you if you were dying in the street. That's not something that's done by only those celebrities you disdain; it's something that's done by regular, ordinary people, every day.

Truth to tell, you come across as extremely insecure and bitter. For whatever reason, you've decided that anyone who's in the limelight deserves your scorn for having dared to put themselves out there, and that makes you pathetic.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-02 05:15 am (UTC)(link)
Wow. You're making the Sherlock fandom look good for once.

No, they don't need to "deal with it," people can accept that just because someone writes a book you like or plays a character you like, doesn't mean you deserve unfettered access to their private life. Jesus fucking christ, what is wrong with you?

Seconding this so hard. Some fans' sense of entitlement can be frightening.

I'd prefer if people became writers/actors/singers/whatever because they like to write/act/sing/whatever and are really good at it, not because they don't mind if the whole world knows everything about them.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-02 02:10 am (UTC)(link)
This attitude really bothers me. The fact that someone has chosen a career that makes him or her visible is not an excuse to treat that person like he or she has no right to ever keep anything private.

By necessity, actors and authors must live in the public eye under certain circumstances. They don't have to live in the public eye outside the realm of their jobs. People like you feel as if you have some sort of ownership of celebrities, but you don't. They are people doing a job. They are not beholden to you, and they are not slaves to the camera. The fact that so many nowadays think that they are is sick.

This so freaking much.

I hate when people say "They shouldn't have chosen to be celebritites if they don't want people to do douche thing X"

You want to see the pictures, then look them up. I don't think celebrities' lives should be an open book or anything, but requests like this just make me roll my eyes. f they didn't want the pictures out there, then they shouldn't have had anyone other than their witnesses at the wedding and hired a photographer to take film pictures because that would have given them greater control. Once the first picture was emailed to somebody, that pretty much guaranteed they'd eventually get into the public's hands.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-02 01:20 am (UTC)(link)
The photos were stolen when someone hacked the photographer's site. They weren't intended to be viewed by all and sundry.

Just because someone has a digital photo taken does not mean it is suddenly public domain. The lack of respect and simple human decency society displays nowadays is really quite sad.

I don't think it makes you terrible, I just think it makes you human (not that not being curious about the pictures would make anyone not-human). As long as you don't give in to that curiosity, you're fine.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-02 02:29 am (UTC)(link)
I'm so disgusting by so many of the replies to this, but then I'm often disgusted by how people react to "celebrities."

We love people who entertain us or who are creative. But we also loathe them, because we think that they owe us something. They're just people at the end of the day, and they don't owe us shit, but we're selfish and self-conscious and, anyway, we've CONNECTED!LOL with their work, so we think that they do. We think that we deserve to know everything about them. We deserve to follow them, to be present at every moment of their lives, to provide input when they have to make a decision. They've appeared before us en mass, so they belong to us.

In aggregate, we are sorry excuses for human beings. We are leeches who live vicariously through other people. We are sad lumps of meat sitting on couches, watching tabloid shows and reading tabloid rags.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-02 03:04 am (UTC)(link)
Please, they'll pimp their stories out when it suits them and then cry 'foul' when it doesn't. I don't care a jot.
