are you talking about make-up/fashion? if you want a speed guide for how to do it right, i'd start with finding your colouring. i know, i know, the whole 'what's your season?' thing sounds really stupid and cliched, but if you actually follow your colours you inevitably do end up wearing colours that flatter you. so go to a site like this: http://personalitycafe.com/general-chat/37461-what-your-color-season-spring-summer-autumn-winter-fun.html and work out what you are. From there you have a basic palette to choose coloured clothes and make-up from that you know will flatter you.

from there, i'd work out your body type so you can know what styles of clothing will be flattering on you. There are lots of sites that do this, but this one: http://www.bodyshapefashionadvice.com/ has a quiz, so it might help you more. these aren't prescriptive guides mind you, but they narrow down the selection field of clothes if you don't know what will look good on you.

if you want to learn how to put on make-up, there are lots of make-up tutorials on youtube that can help. but really, i'd start simple - find a foundation (or even just a tinted moisturised/bb cream) that suits your colouring, if you need one, maybe some mascara and a lipgloss or lipstick. that's all i wear, if i'm going out during the day and want to look nice-ish. you can practice things like eyeshadow, eyeliner, blush in your own time and see what suits and what doesn't if you want to wear that kind of stuff when you go out at night or whatever, but you don't have to learn everything at once. maybe ask the person who helps you 'pretty up' to have a fun night in with you practising make-up? (oh, and don't forget to wash your make-up off at night!)

other than that, moisturiser and sunscreen would be good things to get into your routine.

i hope some, or any of this stuff helps!

oooh, i just saw that you were thinking about getting a hair cut to change things up - you can also have a look at guides like this: http://www.thehairstyler.com/features/articles/hairstyles/the-right-hairstyle-for-your-face-shape to work out what type of hair-style will suit you. (i know, i know, i'm obsessed with guides). obvs you don't have to follow it exactly, but looking at something like this can help you avoid hair disasters, or on a milder scale give you tips like whether bangs would work for you or not :) (bangs don't work on me, sadness - but i keep trying anyway!)

This is absolutely fantastic advice! Thank you so very much! :D!

(And those guides are great!)

Glad I could help! I used to work at a clothes shop where we were supposed to be able to tell people what they should buy based on their colouring and body-shape as they walked in the door, so it's nice to be able to use that knowledge outside of work :)
