... GIMP necessitates choosing font and background colours that genuinely can't be looked at without nausea? (To my eyes the words genuinely look to be vibrating. Which I know is an illusion, but that doesn't actually make it any more comfortable to look at).

If GIMP doesn't let you choose the font and background colours, it's worse than I thought.
