Art!
(Anonymous) 2013-03-02 02:27 am (UTC)(link)*deep breath* So. Any suggestions for how to draw more dynamic pictures? Action shots and such? I can't pull those poses off myself, and I'm not comfortable asking my friends to pose for me (I'm comfortable asking my family, but they can't pull them off either, hah). I've tried drawing from some stock shots I've found (senshistock etc), but they still seem bland and I don't know why agh help
Re: Art!
(Anonymous) 2013-03-02 02:33 am (UTC)(link)Also find pictures (preferably from different artist) that have the qualities that you're looking for and copy them. Obviously don't post these online, but it's excellent practice!
Also, find time draw daily! 30 art challenges are fun!
Re: Art!
(Anonymous) 2013-03-02 03:14 am (UTC)(link)Bookmarked! I keep telling myself I should draw more and I never quite manage to do so... art challenges might just be what I need to keep me going, so thanks for the suggestion! Gonna go hunt some down now...

Re: Art!
(Anonymous) 2013-03-02 03:15 am (UTC)(link)Oh, good idea! Comes pre-packaged with interesting backdrops too, I guess. I think half my problem is I'm not too great with foreshortening, and the other half is I can never come up with fun backgrounds - this should let me practise both.

Re: Art!
(Anonymous) 2013-03-02 03:16 am (UTC)(link)Thanks, that's a blog I've not come across before! Definitely seems helpful; gonna go try out some stuff now~
Re: Art!
(Anonymous) 2013-03-02 08:25 am (UTC)(link)Huh, there's actually no one in my family who reads magazines of any sort. O.o I'll pop down to the library soon and see what I can find...
Re: Art!
Since my focus at the time was on the idea of drawing comics someday, this was REALLY useful.
Re: Art!
(Anonymous) 2013-03-02 08:28 am (UTC)(link)That sounds interesting! I've never had formal art training, so I always find these sorts of exercises really helpful. =D No models for me, but I suppose I can do something similar by finding a bunch of pictures and sketching them in a set, short time-frame, to get a sense of the flow of movement etc...? I'll give it a shot~
