Wellll, when I started out in art school, one exercise we did early on was gesture drawings. The model would strike a dynamic pose, and we'd have like five seconds before they would change to another one, so we'd have to capture the essence of that pose in just a few quick lines, the major arcs and angles. Then we'd choose some of our favorites, and flesh them out into actual figure drawings.

Since my focus at the time was on the idea of drawing comics someday, this was REALLY useful.

That sounds interesting! I've never had formal art training, so I always find these sorts of exercises really helpful. =D No models for me, but I suppose I can do something similar by finding a bunch of pictures and sketching them in a set, short time-frame, to get a sense of the flow of movement etc...? I'll give it a shot~
