Being a strong independent woman doesn't mean you always have to be "in charge, on top" ... in the same way that feminism isn't about man-hating, or female chauvinism, or any of the other stuff people might slap on it.
In my opinion, it's about CHOICE. Having the freedom and the right to CHOOSE what you do with your mind and body and life.
Feminism was a response to women being told they didn't have a choice: They were told to stay home, wear frilly pink clothes, learn to give good BJs (and never even think to ask for sexual satisfaction in return, because "good girls" didn't do that). They were discouraged from taking things like math and science in school and ,well, I could go on and on, because I was there. But The bottom line here is .. imo, feminism should be just as much about allowing a woman to have the freedom to choose the more "traditional and stereotyped feminine role" IF SHE WANTS TO as it is about making a space where a women can reject those roles IF SHE WANTS TO.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-02 03:57 am (UTC)(link)That said, OP, if you are genuinely afraid for whatever reason about getting into an abusive relationship, these are the things therapists are for; having someone to bounce back the ideas that scare you with but with a dosage of neutrality can put things into perspective
