I apologize. I'm actually IN Doctor Who fandom and I meant to add a parenthesis adding "(or hell, even for fandoms you ARE in)", but I submitted the comment before I thought to add it.

Knowing that OP is a fan changed how I took the title. Self deprecation (including of a group or commonality within a group) is different than being made fun of by someone outside the group.
