Honestly I feel this way about most wank in fandom. Like c'mon, guys, we're total dorks who spend a significant amount of our time talking about fictional characters, coming up with detailed backstories about them, writing stories where they find true love/happiness/exquisite torture for our amusement. It's patently ridiculous and I've never understood the seriousness that some people bring to it.

Nicely put. I let wank and serious arguments slide if it's over media representation etc. but debating about which character or ship is better than the other is just a little over-the-top. What happened to enjoying a show without having to worry about a couple of problems with consistency/plot/whathaveyou
