Well...all I can say to that is I've been there and while I can see why you might find it odd, I also don't think you should fret about it too much. Even if his wife is uncomfortable with some of the attention he gets...you're attracted to who you're attracted to. As long as you respect them and their relationship, I don't see the problem. (And I doubt she would hate you either, for having a crush. Maybe she doesn't want to hear about it, but hey, you seem to understand boundaries so that's not an issue.)

The way I see it, it's no different than crushing on a classmate in elementary/middle/high school. They were real people, too, sometimes with significant others you were jealous of. It's just that this person is more well-known so s/he's got more people crushing on her or him. And hey, this is probably a good thing because you're less likely to get a chance to horribly embarrass yourself talking to said crush in the school cafeteria and tripping over your own feet to spill spaghetti sauce all over your blouse.

I mean, what?

You know, that's an excellent way to put it. (Spaghetti and all.)

You aren't likely to meet your crush and so you can't embarrass yourself or act on it, so celebrity crushes are actually pretty safe. (As long as, as mentioned, you respect boundaries.)
