I still don't get why the framing makes it better.

Saying, "tee hee, if I did a bad thing, it would look like this" and then doing the bad thing doesn't mean you didn't just do the bad thing. It just means you knew you were being a dick and went ahead anyway.

He did perform the song. He did it with no shame.

Because when you have the framing device, it becomes not just a bad song, but a *commentary* on the bad song. It's poking at an industry that says "we need the women to get naked!" But rather than doing a 20-minute presentation on sexism in the media, it's saying "look at this sexism. Isn't it ridiculous that we're STILL like this? What's next? Clubs and cave paintings?"
