I'm almost want to bet that OP means swing set in december. Saucery is also possible but SwingSet does this more often and okay I love her fics but URGH why so short?!? Or why does she always update chapter 1 and then it is WIP (and abandoned for months)? Can't she finish one fic and then start to write the next one?

At least with Saucery, she leaves them as WIPS, which means (to me anyway) there's an intention to continue. Also, she updates her tumblr pretty frequently with fic continuations. Swingset just starts the story and "ends" it. BUT THAT'S NOT AN ENDING.

True. But I don't know which is worse. Knowing that there never will be a next chapter and you can (or must) accept it or to wait 6 months or more for a new chapter. These two authors are part of the reason that I stopped to read WIPs. :/

My first thought was NeverSaysDie, but then I noticed that the OP didn't mean wips. The snippets are just as frustrating as unfinished wips, because it still feels like you are reading just one chapter out of a full story, no matter how good it is. I've started avoiding authors that do this, since I know that I'll feel like I wasted my time reading them.

Ugh, this. It's why I didn't bid on NeverSaysDie in the charity auction*. They're clearly a talented author, but much of what they write is never finished. I love their stories, but I can't stand WIP.

*Same for other authors listed in the auction. If you can't be bothered to work on your own fics, how can I expect for you to finish a prompt I've given you? I only placed bids on authors I saw didn't have any major WIPs on their Ao3 link.

What really grinds my gears now are when authors misuse the series button as if it's a chapter button.

Saucery and Swingset are okay on that front, but I notice especially in TW section on Ao3, that this is becoming a disturbing trend.
