I'm almost want to bet that OP means swing set in december. Saucery is also possible but SwingSet does this more often and okay I love her fics but URGH why so short?!? Or why does she always update chapter 1 and then it is WIP (and abandoned for months)? Can't she finish one fic and then start to write the next one?

At least with Saucery, she leaves them as WIPS, which means (to me anyway) there's an intention to continue. Also, she updates her tumblr pretty frequently with fic continuations. Swingset just starts the story and "ends" it. BUT THAT'S NOT AN ENDING.

My first thought was NeverSaysDie, but then I noticed that the OP didn't mean wips. The snippets are just as frustrating as unfinished wips, because it still feels like you are reading just one chapter out of a full story, no matter how good it is. I've started avoiding authors that do this, since I know that I'll feel like I wasted my time reading them.

What really grinds my gears now are when authors misuse the series button as if it's a chapter button.

Saucery and Swingset are okay on that front, but I notice especially in TW section on Ao3, that this is becoming a disturbing trend.

i really don't understand this secret. is the fic unfulfilling? is it too short to get to the essence of things?author isn't good at ending stories?

also,author is allowed to write her/his fic exactly how she/he wants. they put effort into it,and it they think it's good for publishing,it is. god forbid someone writes for their own pleasure.

The fic is unfulfilling because it's incomplete. But the author never intends to complete it, so it's not a WIP. She writes ficlet fragments that could be really great as longer fics. But at least most ficlets have some kind of conclusion. She has no conclusion.

Yes, I know that the author is allowed to write what she wants how she wants when she wants. But it's frustrating for the me, reader, because I want more. I want to know how it ends. But I know there's not going to be more.

Basically yes her fics are often unfulfilling. I'm happy that she writes because she is an amazing writer BUT often she writes one short scene and nothing more. Her fics are basically short stories. No beginning, no ending, no background. She gives us a hint what could be happen but nothing more.

It is as if you get a look into a treasure chamber but after one minute you must leave with nothing in your hands except your poor imagination what could have been.

There isn't any "OMG HAWT CANON GAY BUTTSEX" though? Danny is the only confirmed gay character, a few others are hinted but not outright stated bisexuals.

Despite the cheesy premise and very loose connection to the 80s movie, the show does a pretty good job with character development and most storylines. I think people get turned away because of tumblr fangirls/boys. :\

I watch it for fun but after episode 4 or 5 I felt in love with the characters and the plot. ALso there is no canon gay buttsex. Okay, sure S3 will give us a sex scene between the canon gay character and his new boyfriend but S1 or S2 has no explicit gay scenes.... eh except a short m/m kiss and the scene in the gay dance club and naturally one of the side characters is gay. Oh and one of the main characters is bi.

I cringed through the whole show, but I've found corners of this fandom that are amazing. There's a lot of potential in it. For me, it's the characters. I think the plot was absurdly bad, but I was intrigued by many of the characters and I fell really really hard for Dylan O'Brien.
But even so: DON'T GET INTO IT if you're not interested. I know it's an odd thing to say, but so much about the fandom is excruciatingly awkward and embarrassing.

I have no interest in the show at all. Never had and never will. But I especially don't just because the fandom is going batshit over a pairing that doesn't even exist in the canon at all. Seeing as it's swingset you're referring to, I totally agree, and I am also completely aware of my entitlement. It's like being blueballed through fic for potential for epics, or when you read a manga that only has four volumes and it just rushes the ending so nothing feels concluded at all, or when you watch The Legend of Korra and find out it's more like The Legend of Happenings That Happened While Korra Was Around oh and wonder why they wasted an episode on filler love triangle things.
