Given Ciel's history of physical and emotional trauma (and possible sexual abuse), it disturbs me that people are salivating at the thought of Sebastian fucking him. But to each their own.

I mean I get that people are into shota and stuff, but Sebastian has a tendency for manipulating people through NO-STRINGS-ATTACHED sex. He hits it and quits it as soon as he gets the info, then the person he seduced dies at the climax of the arc.

Wash, rinse, repeat.

Wait, what? That happened once. With a woman who certainly seemed to be of age. When did the wash, rinse, repeat happen?

I'm not trying to make Sebastian out to be some kind not-demon, don't get me wrong. It's just, did I get the censored version of the manga or something?

I quit reading the manga (for this and other reasons) so I don't know if Sebastian has repeated what happened with Beast, but you can't deny that a) he preys on others' weaknesses, no matter how vulnerable they are and b) fandom is disgusting.

My favorite fandom moment was when, after the scene where Ciel is retching and sobbing after an episode of something like PTSD, all fandom wanted to talk about was how his tears and vomit looked like semen on his face. Excellent.

I don't deny that Sebastian preys on others' weaknesses. He's a demon, it's in his job description. If you want your lead characters heroic and redeemable, I should think you'd be reading something else, as you very sensibly are doing.

As it happens, I had the same reaction to the PTSD flashback scene that you did, and had to have it explained to me why people are constantly referring to it as a shippy scene. But I do deny that fandom is disgusting. If, as it was explained to me, Toboso was using the visual conventions familiar to a yaoi audience in that scene, I'm not sure how it's awful of the people who recognized those conventions to notice the way she was layering ideas there. (Or, if you're familiar with yaoi visual conventions but not with what a PTSD flashback looks like, why you might not even see the tears and vomit, at least on first read.) And if people are seeing something a creator actually put in a scene, and I'm not seeing it, I'd be inclined to think that they were better/more sophisticated readers than I was, not that I'm more virtuous than they are for not having the background necessary to recognize the reference.
