Re: Am I the only one confused about what the OP's impressions of Sorting and Houses are?

I agree. It's really readers who have decided that the House you are sorted into means that's who you are forever and ever, when it seems that it really is just a school thing. There is nothing in the books to suggest that it really matters in the adult world. Think about it - we never know the House affiliation of many of the adults. We're only told when someone is telling one of the kids something about the character when they were in school. But we are never told Tonks' House, for example, or the other adults outside of the school. It's not like adults are still identified this way. Umbridge? Shacklebolt? Madame Rosemerta? Aberforth? Anyone?
