And I can see what you mean about trying the emotional chords. In reality, every sad, tragic, or unhappy moment in film is the same thing. The difference is whether it feels natural or if it's hidden well. Usually I think it is...but as much as I loved Toy Story 3, a lot of that movie felt very forced. I understand they wanted an emotional, satisfying ending, but there's something very false about the sort of adulation Andy showered on his toys at the ending.
